Could better transport help your organisation?

Cyclist wearing a helmet and backpack riding along a tree-lined path, with a red pannier bag attached to the bike. Several people are walking and running along the path ahead. How people get to work matters. Poor transport connections can make it harder to recruit and retain staff, while better commuting options can support your employees and your organisation’s sustainability ambitions.

Through our Better Commutes Through Data work, we’re offering organisations across South East Scotland free workforce travel analysis and practical support.

And it’s simpler than it might sound. We only need a small amount of workforce information: your workplace location, staff home postcodes and their usual start and finish times. We’ll use this to build a picture of commuting options for your workforce and provide practical insight for your organisation.

I’m interested and would like to know more.

What could you get from taking part?

We’ll use your workforce travel data to provide practical insight for your organisation.

  • Understand commuting options: See the public transport options available to your workforce and build a clearer picture of how accessible your workplace is.
  • Support recruitment and retention: Better commuting options can help remove transport barriers, opening up employment opportunities to more people and giving existing staff more choice.
  • Support your sustainability goals: Encouraging public transport, walking, cycling and car sharing can help reduce car journeys and support your organisation’s sustainability ambitions.
  • Find practical support: We can also provide information about relevant funding opportunities and tax incentives that could help your organisation.

And our support is free.

What information do we need?

Less than you might think.

To carry out the analysis, we need:
📍 Your workplace location
🏠 Staff home postcodes
🕐 Staff start and finish times

You may already collect some of this information as part of your climate or sustainability reporting.
