Bus strategy consultation
Help shape the future of buses in the south-east of Scotland
⇒ Complete our bus questionnaire
Buses play a vital role in our communities. They connect places, provide access to jobs, education, healthcare, and leisure, and are essential in tackling inequalities and climate change. However, many people across the south-east of Scotland still face barriers when it comes to travelling by bus.
Our role, as the South East of Scotland Transport Partnership, is to create a bus strategy which addresses these challenges. Our vision for buses in our region is:
“To provide a high quality, affordable, accessible and available bus network for the whole region which is fully integrated with other forms of transport and increases passenger numbers and passenger satisfaction, to support the social, environmental and inclusive economic development of the region.”
And as part of the process to develop the bus strategy, we need to understand the views, opinions and experiences of people across our region.
To tell us your views, we’ve created a questionnaire, which we’re looking for as many people as possible to complete. This asks questions about:
- Levels of bus service – how well bus times and routes meet day to day needs
- Cost
- The impact of delays and route changes
- Types of tickets available
- Bus information and customer service
- Bus drivers
- Bus stops, bus stations and park and rides
- The bus vehicles
- Safety, security and inclusion
Strategy Manager, Rachael Murphy, explains more about our bus strategy consultation.
The consultation questionnaire will be open until 25 August 2025.
We will use the information you provide to us to help shape the development of the bus strategy in our region. The strategy will set out what our region needs from a bus network and will include plans and actions to help this become a reality. We will be working closely with the eight local authorities in our region as well as the buses operators.
