SEStran has now published the study undertaken to identify key issues affecting transport delivery throughout south east Scotland. The Main Issues Report will provide the basis for the future development of a new Regional Transport Strategy that will replace the current Regional Transport Strategy 2015-2025 Refresh.
The Main Issues Report is an evidence based review of the factors and issues which currently affect transport in the region and may affect it in the future. The study looks at the rationale for developing a new RTS, and investigates the people, society, environment and economy of the region along with the transport issues and challenges faced. The report identifies the 10 main issues considered most important for the region.
Due to the ongoing crisis, consultation was extended to allow a fuller response. The RTS that emerges from the research undertaken will also consider the short and long term impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic on transport in the region.
