The report analyses current food production and consumption patterns, logistics supply chains and trade structures and reveals the relevance of the food & drink industry to the Scottish economy and particularly to the regional economies in the SEStran area.

It analyses the relevance of the food sector in terms of employment, added value, investments, growth, and specialisation with particular focus on the beverages, fish and seafood, and meat sector.

The industries heavy reliance on long distance road transport is examined, together with opportunities for modal shift from road to sea and rail.
