New legislation and strategies in Scotland, rapid societal shift and advances in technology are bringing forward significant changes for transport, economy and land use. In response, SEStran is developing a new Regional Transport Strategy (RTS) that will sets out a clear framework for how transport and mobility will be provided, developed and improved in our region, to meet the aspirations for a sustainable and economically active growth area over the next 10 years and beyond.
Consultants have been appointed by SEStran to support in the process of engagement, development and completion of necessary statutory assessments to create a new RTS for the South East of Scotland. Consultations are already underway with the eight local authorities that make up the SEStran partnership and other key stakeholders in the region.
This is your opportunity to get involved and input into the development of the new RTS. More information on SEStran and the purpose, processes and timescales to develop a new RTS is available on the SEStran 2035 Project page
We also want individuals views on transport matters in the region and a short Public Survey can be completed which will gather key travel characteristics. and seek views on what should be the priorities for the SEStran Region over the next 10 years. A link to the survey is here and we would encourage you to take up this opportunity. The survey runs from 9 March to 19 April.
